In the hushed sanctuary of a quaint Alabama church, amid the fervent testimonies of the faithful, a young Marquita Moore found solace and inspiration. Steeped in the rich traditions of family, Marquita’s tender years sowed the seeds of a spiritual journey that would later blossom into hope and empowerment for countless others.
From humble beginnings, Moore’s path weaved through the corridors of entertainment empires, taking her to the bustling studios of BET and Oxygen networks as a host and moderator and the illustrious halls of Shawn Carter Enterprises and Roc Nation as an executive shaping global hip hop trends. At the pinnacle of her career, she stood as a testament to perseverance and achievement—yet, beneath the veneer of success, there was silent discontent.
“I had this nagging feeling that something was missing,” Moore confides. “Despite the accolades and achievements, I felt adrift, disconnected from my authentic self.”
Moore found herself grappling with the relentless pursuit of perfection, which left her emotionally and spiritually depleted. During this time, she heard the whispers of an inner voice beckoning her to chart a new course. “I knew I had to penetrate to the essence of who I truly was, to reconnect with The Spirit that had guided me since my earliest days,” Moore reflects.
“I had no idea what happens when you decide to walk away; I just knew I couldn’t go on as I had been,” Moore reflects. “Taking that first step seemed impossible, but once I committed, it started a whole new beginning for me.”
With unwavering resolve, she began stripping away the layers of pretense and expectation to reveal the beauty that lay dormant within. It was a process fraught with uncertainty yet fueled by an unshakeable faith in the power of transformation and rediscovery. Moore says, “Eventually, I reached a space in my life where I could embrace boldly everything about me; I was free to be me.”
Central to Moore’s journey was her identity as a newly divorced mother. Even when she was adrift, she found solace in the unconditional love of her son, River, which served as a catalyst for profound self-reflection and growth.
In 2011, How I Grew Today emerged, a digital sanctuary born of Moore’s commitment to truth and healing.
From heartfelt reflections to practical tips, How I Grew Today leverages the insights Moore gleaned to create a refuge for people seeking solace and guidance. Moore invites individuals to reclaim their voices through her website, one heartfelt revelation at a time.
Moore explains. “It’s really a place where I can check in daily and stop all the distractions happening in my life. It’s a place where individuals can come together to share their experiences, support one another and celebrate the beauty of self-discovery.”
In addition to Moore’s platform, journaling serves as a therapeutic exercise for her healing and reflections. Moore articulates, “Sharing my writing is how I serve others and fulfill my purpose to spread God’s light, the goodness of humanity, and love in the way I was meant to.”
In her latest book, Feeling God: Search + Connect + Be, Moore chronicles her experiences and offers diverse audiences a poignant exploration of the human spirit and its quest for meaning and fulfillment. “Through the book, I encourage people to ask themselves the tough questions,” Moore shares. “Who are you? What do you want out of life? How are you showing up in the world?”
Feeling God serves as both a roadmap and a companion for those navigating their own path – it’s part workbook and part inspirational guide.
Marquita Moore illuminates a path to wholeness with grace, wisdom, and steady determination in a world hungry for authenticity and connection.
