Memphis, Tennessee—long recognized as the cradle of soul, the home of the blues, and the heartbeat of Southern culture—is preparing to host one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. From August 16–18, 2025, the city will come alive as Telecast Media Group presents The People’s Hip Hop Awards Experience—a multi-day celebration spotlighting hip hop’s history, impact, and unbreakable community ties.
This isn’t just another awards show. It’s a cultural summit—a celebration of Southern creativity and a reminder of hip hop’s roots as a voice for the people. The weekend is designed to honor the genre’s pioneers, elevate new talent, and deepen community engagement, all while placing Memphis at the center of the national music conversation.
The celebration begins on Saturday, August 16, with a citywide series of immersive, community-driven events. From art spaces and historic landmarks to local studios and college campuses, pop-up activations will showcase the rich creative spirit of Memphis. Artists, DJs, producers, and cultural leaders will come together to host panels, performances, and workshops focused on artist development, branding, and navigating the music industry.
These sessions aren’t just for show—they’re opportunities for young creatives to learn from seasoned professionals, build valuable relationships, and gain the tools to carve out sustainable careers in music. With Memphis’ iconic musical legacy as the backdrop, Saturday will be a day of discovery, empowerment, and connection.
Sunday, August 17, kicks off with elegance and influence. From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Serve the Elite Celebrities Sunday Brunch will gather tastemakers, celebrities, and business leaders for a morning of conversation, connection, and cultural reflection. This exclusive brunch honors those pushing the culture forward—both on stage and behind the scenes.
The energy builds later that afternoon with the Free Pre-Show Concert from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Emerging hip hop artists from across the South will light up the stage in front of fans, scouts, producers, and industry veterans. It’s a rare chance to witness rising stars just before their breakthrough—raw, real, and ready.
Then, at 6:00 PM, the spotlight shifts to the main event at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts: The People’s Hip Hop Awards Ceremony. The red carpet will be buzzing with over 50 hip hop legends, newcomers, and cultural icons. Cameras will flash, interviews will roll, and the air will be electric with anticipation.
The night’s lineup is nothing short of iconic. Performers include some of the South’s most beloved and respected figures: Big Boogie, Trillville, Young Buck, Crime Mob, Kin Folks Thug, and Li Chat & Krunchy Black from the legendary 3-6 Mafia. Adding to the star power are the No Limit Soldiers, with Silkk the Shocker and the unstoppable Mia X, alongside the crunk pioneers EastSide Boyz.
This is Southern hip hop in its purest form—loud, unapologetic, and filled with the energy that’s defined a region and influenced a generation.
But the celebration isn’t just about music. On Monday, August 18, the festival’s focus turns to legacy and giving back. In partnership with community leaders and local organizations, the event will feature youth mentorship initiatives, school supply giveaways, criminal record expungement resources, and neighborhood uplift projects. These aren’t just feel-good moments—they’re part of a long-term commitment to using hip hop’s platform to uplift the very communities that created it.
Telecast Media Group, led by visionary founder Michael Dockery, has long been committed to reclaiming narrative ownership and creating platforms where Black excellence, creativity, and culture are amplified. With The People’s Hip Hop Awards Experience, Dockery’s mission takes center stage in a weekend that reflects both the soul of Memphis and the resilience of the culture it helped shape.
This is more than an awards ceremony. It’s a movement. A statement. A reflection of everything hip hop stands for—resistance, storytelling, transformation, and community.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan, an emerging artist, a cultural curator, or simply someone who believes in the power of art to inspire change, The People’s Hip Hop Awards Experience is your invitation to be part of history in the making.
